The dude I live with (aka my husband- how weird is that?!?) (very.) says that these beads look like Jolly Ranchers to him and whenever he sees me wearing this, all he will think about is eating my necklace. Dude, don’t eat these.
The large, juicy red squares are glass with foil lining the inside. They are really cool looking in person. Other than looking like candy, they have such an intense color to them that it is hard to take your eyes off of them. One thing I learned in making this necklace is that squares are not good at going around corners. Originally, I had only the large red squares and the small dark red squares. They didn’t lay right, no matter how long I made the wire. Man, I really wanted the squares to work!. Alas, it was not to be. I added the little round beads and now everything lays properly on the neck.
So, although this necklace seemed like a simple task, it was actually, slightly, infuriating. But, now I know that you can’t fit a square peg in a round hole. Who knew?
